Queen Elizabeth Humanities College is once again leading the way amongst Herefordshire Schools in exam success. In 2011 the school topped the league table for school performance with 75% achieving A* - C in five subjects including English and Maths. This is the Government benchmark on school achievement. This year around 70% of students have already achieved this target in English and Maths through early entry and with the main exam period yet to start the school expects well over 80% to gain the necessary grades.

With the arrival of some good weather (at long last), please be mindful of doorstep callers. In particular, those offering to pressure wash drives, patios, fence panels etc. Also, anyone offering to fix so-called leaking gutters, loose roof tiles, cut back trees, tarmac drives. Cold callers who offer to do building work, gardening or driveways are highly likely to be rogue traders.

Rubbish collection is one service under scrutiny. The council now has just days to back a new plan that secures at least £8.4 million of savings which the previous plan couldn’t make happen and which cuts services back to essentials only.
