I would like everyone to be aware that the Town Council is discussing the future of the Hospice Shop on Monday evening. As you will know the Hospice has peremptorily reduced the shop's opening hours by 12 hours a week, without any consultation with the volunteers. The resulting loss in revenue would, as best as I can calculate it, keep a bed open (which apparently costs some £500/week) for about 40 days.
St Michael’s Hospice would like to confirm that it has no intention of closing the Bromyard Shop. The current temporary reduction in hours of opening is entirely in response to volunteer sickness and bereavement and has been established in full consultation and agreement with current volunteers. It is hoped that normal hours will be resumed following Easter. In the meantime the Hospice wishes to thank the Bromyard Community for its continued support and for ensuring we continue to provide essential services for patients and their families from the town and wider community.
