THE chance to play a part in Bromyard’s future will be offered to members of the public next month.  Anyone interested in shaping policy including housing, policing and car parking over the next few years is invited to join a committee tasked with implementing the Market Town Plan.

SEASONED sausage-makers from Bromyard walked away with first prize in this year’s Herefordshire Sizzle Off competition. Legge’s of Bromyard, a family butchers in Tenbury Road, was crowned county champion for its speciality banger containing black-pudding, apple and herbs.

 
Conquest promises cracking new season

 THE Conquest Theatre in Bromyard is promising “a cracking new season”, with highlights including Mark Little (Joe Mangel in Neighbours) in a pre-West End show, Defending the Caveman, a worldwide hit and the longest running solo play in Broadway history.

Plans to introduce charges at the Rowberry Street car park (adjacent to the Council offices) have been given the green light by the Town Council.

 
Queen Elizabeth presents ÂŁ1000 cheque to ACORNS

Music students at Queen Elizabeth Humanities College presented a cheque for £1000 today to Jill Davies from ACORNS Children’s Hospice. The money was raised t the Annual Christmas Wassail, held during the last week of term over two nights.

 
Housing plan gets thumbs down

TOO large and too close to industry was the scathing verdict by town councillors on plans for a major new housing development to the north of Bromyard. Marsten Developments plans to site 175 dwellings to the east of Tenbury Road and adjacent to Porthouse Industrial Estate - home to major town employer Polytec Holden.  (let us have your comments on this important issue.)

 
Fromes Hill Cafe Closed

shop-front2The cafe at Fromes Hill Services closed before Christmas, to be replaced by an Indian restaurant.

There are quite a few businesses on the site, including a car mechanic, a secondhand office equipment store, a sign writer and an army surplus and adventure store. There is also a large customer car park!

 
Council to consider application for 175 houses

There will be a Meeting of the Town Council on Monday 18th January 2010 at 7:30pm in the Council Chamber, Council Offices, Bromyard. The public are welcome to attend. See agenda, below...

Janet Hugman needs a 20-something actress to fill the starring role in the Conquest Theatre’s latest play.

 
Local trial for badger TB vaccine

A trial of a new vaccine against TB in badgers is to take place in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Badgers in an area extending from Bromyard to Tenbury Wells to Cleobury Mortimer to Abberley will get the vaccine.

Market Town Plan – Public Meeting.

The Public Meeting to discuss the Market Town Plan took place at the Public Hall, Rowberry Street on the evening of Thursday 14th January. Attendance was better than expected given the adverse weather conditions.

COUNCILLOR GILL CHURCHILL opened the meeting.  She pre-empted the usual criticism that consultation exercises were a waste of time and “nothing ever happened”.
