Well known local couple Colin and Sue Clark, who ran The Wheelwright's Arms in Pencombe for ten years, have recently added to the raft of new shops that have opened in Bromyard in the last few months. "Country Matters", located in the beautiful building that is No.5 Broad Street, is selling top quality antiques, objet d'arts, textiles, fabrics, soaps, jewellery, cosmetics and artworks.

ENGLISH Heritage has included several local points of interests in its annual Heritage at Risk register. The ruined church of St Mary, in Avenbury, just outside Bromyard, is described as being in very bad condition and in need of an “urgent need to stabilise corner of chancel to prevent collapse”. Bromyard itself, listed in the register as a Conservation Area, is also logged as being “at risk”.

A year ago this week, five soldiers from the 2nd Battalion The Rifles were killed and another five injured in Sangin, in a single bloody incident that brought home to many the dangers that UK troops faced in the area.

We've just had an amazing weekend at Nozstock Festival in Bromyard, Herefordshire. Not heard of it yet? It's not surprising because it was quite possibly the most intimate festival I've ever been to. It was so small and friendly and not at all like the huge, established festivals out there like Glastonbury.

Our roving reporter was delighted to meet Emily Davis and Camilla Lombardi yesterday at the HOPE Centre. Emily Davis, whose father Mark moved from Bromyard to Italy some years ago, married an Italian girl and stayed on in his adopted country, is spending two weeks at the HOPE Centre with her friend Camilla.
