A LOCAL band has fought off stiff competition to reach Number One in two influential online charts.
The Misers, based in Bromyard and Worcester, took the top spot in both the Americana and Country charts on social networking website myspace.com myspace has helped launch the musical careers of numerous pop stars, including Lily Allen and the Arctic Monkeys.
The band, fronted by Neil Ivison on vocals and guitar and Adam Barry on keyboard, reached Number One in Myspace’s Unsigned Chart in July last year, but this time around they have beaten thousands of signed and well-known groups to reach the two top spots.
“We’ve had incredible support from the local area since we released the album and the double Number One tops off a great first year for us,” said Mr Ivison.
“Lilly Allen and the Arctic Monkeys have attracted the attention of the industry through Myspace so hopefully it’ll work for us too.”
