Still Life, the community film production made by the people of Bromyard and The Rural Media Company has been chosen to be the big Christmas Day movie for national broadcast on The Community Channel.
The film, which was created over the course of the year with over 300 hundred people from the town premiered at the Hay Festival earlier this year and earned itself very high praise from Oscar winner and BAFTA Fellow Lord Puttnam who described the film as, “an inspiration to communities everywhere as to what they can achieve with film……it is work that deserves a wide and appreciative audience.”
The film and its accompanying documentary will be shown at 3 different intervals during the day, 8:00am, 2.00pm and 9.00pm. “We were thrilled that Still Life was chosen to be the Christmas day film for the Community Channel”, said Adrian Lambert the films Director, “we’re up against some very stiff competition in our time slots including Top of the Pops, Top Gear and the Royle Family! But if anybody fancies watching a great film with a very local feel on the big day then please tune in!”
The Community Channel can be found on Sky 539, Virgin 233 or on Freeview 87 (between 6 and 9am only)
Still Life follows the previous Rural Media film project Crafta Webb which award winning director Ken Loach supported. “It’s fantastic to have the work we are making with Herefordshire communities recognised by such eminent film makers”, said Adrian, “we have a number of very exciting projects in development and we hope to continue this fantastic work in 2010.”
