Bromyard Cricket Club

cclogo.jpg Re-founded in 1953, Bromyard Cricket Club is one of the leading cricket clubs in Herefordshire. Situated on the A44 Worcester-Leominster road, on the outskirts of the historic market town of Bromyard, the club provides a combination of pitch, practice and clubhouse facilities that is arguably the best in the county. Allied to this, the club has an excellent social side, with Crib evenings, Race nights, and functions throughout the year, as well as summer Barbecues, and Pool and Darts teams. Bromyard fields two XIs in the Worcestershire County League, Division 1, during the season. This is a young, competitive league, with 61 clubs from Worcestershire and the surrounding area, together with 8 of the leading clubs from Herefordshire (plus Monmouth), and is part of the Birmingham & District Premier League pyramid structure; a cricket league that is widely regarded as the strongest in the whole of England (as well as being the oldest cricket league in the world). The 3rd XI was re-formed in 2006 and play in the Marches League Division 5. The club has played host to internationals such as Alvin Kallicharan, Vanburn Holder, Ron Headley, Mike Proctor, Sadiq Mohammad, Glenn Turner, Dipak Patel, Len Coldwell, Norman Gifford, Dennis Amiss, Andy Lloyd and Chris Broad in benefit matches held over the past 40 years.
